New Training Locations Innovative businesses organise education networks jointly covering the requirements of the entire trade profile. In The Netherlands, special institutions assume this function by referring apprentices to the respective companies. Another interesting feature is the concept of Bouwteams, an alternative form of organisation for carrying out building construction projects in The Netherlands: Rather than the usual on-site meetings, whose only purpose is co-ordinating the organisation, the Bouwteams jointly work out solutions -together with the craftsmen. This increases identification with the project, creates solutions of higher quality and higher quality craftsmanship. At the same time, each Bouwteam member learns new aspects he takes with him into the next Bouwteam. Therefore, Bouwteams increase the quality of the project and multiply know-how. Opening-up contractor's training yards for other works aims for a similar goal. In German-speaking areas, contractor's training yards presently exist only for bricklayers. Companies taking on trainees knowing they cannot cover part of the trade profile can have their apprentices learn this spectrum in the contractor's training yards. Contractor's training yards are locations where concentrated competence for vocational training and further training in the bricklayer's trade is available. Suggestions have been made to open contractor's training yards for other skilled trades as well, in order to alleviate existing training deficiencies and to further co-operation and exchange between trades in further training.
